Skill Building
In this section, we are going to explore factors and multiples using number sequences.
What is a Factor?
A factor is a number that you multiply with another number to get another number. Some numbers have only two factors. For examples, number 2, 3 and 5
1 x 2 = 2 1 x 3 = 3 1 x 5 = 5
2 x 1 = 2 3 x 1 = 3 5 x 1 = 5
These numbers can only multiply itself and 1. Numbers that have only 2 factors have a special name. They are called prime numbers.

Can you think of other numbers that have only two factors? Provide 5 more examples.
There are other numbers that have more than two factors. For examples, 4, 6 and 8.
1 x 4 = 4 1 x 6 = 6 1 x 8 = 8
2 x 2 = 4 2 x 3 = 6 2 x 4 = 8
These numbers have more than 2 factors. These numbers have a special name too. They are called composite numbers.
